Case 885 transmission problem

I’ve got a problem after replacing the brake seals in each side, bolted trumpets back on and bled brakes etc. Jumped on it to test brakes, all good brakes work fine but somethings not right in the tranny every time I turn the wheels to go left or right it’s like it fighting to turn like there’s a lot of resistance in the transmission? Now it’s never been quit right after the drive shaft fell off going down road and ended end chipping some teeth off the gearing in the diff, but this didn’t effect anything apart from a slight knocking noise. Any ideas what’s happening? Could I have misaligned something in diff when bolting half shafts back on?

Is it jamming up in the reduction gear inside the trumpet on the right. Or has something dropped to bits inside the diff lock when you’ve pulled the halfshafts? I had a bad experience with one of those when I renewed a wheel bearing a brake disc dropped when I put it up together and when I tried to drive it forward I snapped a half shaft like a piece of chocolate

I can’t really tell which side but when putting the trumpets back on the left side slid on easy enough while the other side i had to wrestle on but mainly cuz I had to leave the lift arm stabiliser bracket on as the bolts were seized. Brakes are working both left and right on independent so can’t be that. Could anything have fallen or be misaligned in the diff when sliding half shafts back in? It just drives like there some resistance when turning left or right the front wheels scrub if you know what I mean like there’s wind up in the transmission

Is there a thrust washer in there somewhere? Looks like it’s right trumpet back off. I’ve been there.

Still puzzled! Took right hand trumpet off and couldn’t find any thing wrong. Was chatting to local fitter and he told me try jacking one of the front wheels up spin it and that way you’ll know if diff is stuck in, so did this and diff is not stuck in as wheel spinning independently to other side. So all back together and still same problem when turning, so I uncoupled drive shaft to front axle Jumped in and drives fine! So what could be the issue? It’s like the front and back axles are fighting each other.

Thanks for reply. Yea it’s centre drive front axle, it seems to be in 4wd all the time at the moment, I’m just trying to get the 4wd switch working, Is there a fuse in there somewhere? Don’t think there’s any power to the switch at mo.

It's the solenoid that operates the 4x4, it needs power to disengage, if power is lost it automatically drops in to 4 wheel drive

Been there done that Oh, and theres a relay, so you need to switch live feed to the relay and then a live through relay ( normally open)to solenoid
Hmmmmm........... :unsure::D

Thank’s for the info! Where bouts is the relay? I think I’ve found the solenoid is it inside the little box with four bolts holding the metal cover on? Down next to pick up hitch

I had an 885 with stockman cab, the fuse box is behind battery under panel infront of windscreen.
Relay is behind lower dash panel on left hand side as you're sat in seat
Solenoid is to rear of front prop shaft.
Easy test is 12v from battery to solenoid wire, it will click in and out as power goes on and off.
Let me know how you get on :)
