Case 885 XL versus the 885 XL super two

Can anyone tell me the difference between the specs on them?

Very little tractor wise, but included front mudguards, air con and twin assister rams. Might be something else but not sure but tractor are the same. If you are going back to the red version, the super 2 has centre shaft 4wd engaged with a switch

Did any have 40k box

No but some will do around 35/36k, others are dog slow depending on the gear box fitted

I don't a date applies more to do with what boxes were ticked when ordering, some preferred a slower gearbox for veg work etc.

Not according to Vredestein 1575 - 1525 mm dia.

If I remember right our 885XL was £11700 from Robert Taylor & sons back in spring ‘88.
Not a Super Two though, the old fella would not have paid extra for it if it was available, and I rather think they came a bit later on a “F” plate. 2 spools, 2 speed powershift (ta) and trailer brakes.

Ours was £12.5k in November 1986. Really an IH painted in new Case colours. Side driveline 4wd with " Difficult " lever. Easy enough to engage, but needed 2 blokes and a ratchet strap to disengage . Not a bad tractor for the money though. Did 5000 hours, and moved it on. Had a new clutch, and the TA was..........ahem.........bolted together.

My first new tractor. Wonder what became of her ?

The cab will have rotted out unfortunately.
Ours was on it’s way when it suddenly caught fire when parked in the shed and that delivered the ‘coup de grace’.
It also had the presence of mind to start it’s engine and drive forward into a stack of fertiliser as a parting shot.

Actually, it was a brilliant tractor that chopped thousands of acres of grass and only needed oil and filters for many years.
