Case 885 XL

Hi there ,
New to the forum and wonder if anyone can help,

Have father in laws 885XL showing on the gauge as overheating after 8-10 mins of work. Radiator blowing water out of the top.

water coming out of the-cap relief port is stone cold, radiator isn’t over hot but both hoses are warm, engine doesn’t seem overhot. Flushed the radiator and seems to be ok.

changed thermostat and fitted new water pump and radiator cap as I thought I had circulation issues. Didn’t fix, so checked heater matrix and hoses had already been joined together so clearly someone has had a go before. The engine runs so sweet and there’s no contamination or smoke anywhere I just can’t picture it being a head gasket or engine issue. So I am intrigued to know if there is anything I could be missing before diving into the engine, the pressurising of the system and the radiator blowing water out seems to happen at around working temperature and then a minute or so after this thetemperature gauge starts to climb into the red. Hope someone can help! Many thanks in advance.

Iirc from distant past 885 ownership they were basically a souped up 674 with a radiator that was barely big enough

any issues in that dept and they soon got hot.

Ok so, been back to it today and have done nothing but can’t get it to overheat, thermostat opening, bottom hose fairly cool, given some stuck on a strawchopper and up to operating temperature and no more, have pressure tested and found the tiniest pin hole on the collar of the radiator cap, could this be causing airlock issues? I’m fully stumped now as to start with was getting pressurised but cold water from prv now nothing happening 🧐🧐
