Hello all.
I was using the tractor yesterday when the clutch pedal went solid. On inspection, the lever traveling into the bellhousing is loose and can be moved back and forth...

Cant see anything but I guess there is an issue with items 34 - 4 in the image. Anyone with experience of this and is there anyway to replace without splitting? I havent the gear to lift the cab.....
Advice appreciated..(y)

There is an inspection plate on the bell housing underside. If you have a centre drive 4wd you will have to move the drive shaft. If the tractor requires splitting the cab does not need removal.

I found the inspection plate, closer look is that the shaft 34 has the actuation lever welded directly onto it and shafts failed at the weld...not had time to dig into it further as its horrible outside right now. I'll send a picture Shes a Y reg example..thx for your reply

I was wondering pete if you knew if that shaft is connected via two roll pins or some other pin perhaps? If I could get them out in situ, I might be able to slot another shaft in directly, would save a lot of turmoil..?

There are two roll pins fixing the thrust bearing fork to the shaft. Have seen the lever rewelded to the shaft in situ before. Just a matter of getting it back in the right position before welding. Alternatively, you'll have to split it.If you're mechanically minded, and there's no loader frame, they are one of the easiest tractors to split. You'll need the panel removed from the cab floor to gain access to the top bell housing bolts and the next one down on the left side that has a nut on it.

Thanks for your encouragement and reply. I'll see if its possible to make something to press the roll pins out in situ..

Still a bit iffy... I would never weld that and I have been welding since 1975 but that's my opinion on the subject
Got a nice rosete on it with my tig. Its holding for now and bought some time, I took the loader and brackets off to get to the chassis plate as it was hidden behind and DVLA were refusing me a V5 without a photo of the machine, the plate and the number plates..

That weld breaking is a common enough failure, it always was going back through previous models.
The earliest cross shafts on the 574, 674s etc were in fact butt welded, thus worse, later shafts were much better.

We welded a few in situ as required & replaced them the next time they were split for a clutch.
