Thanks for that, pulled the engine oil filter out, although it's grubby (ex coal board) time has been spent on it over the years, someone has etched CM836 on the housing, so should arrive next week, got the oil, (capacity to be worked upon, as the filler bung and dipstick fell off somewhere) and a good farming friend reckons he might have a scraping bucket for me, also ordered a hardox cutting blade which I'll weld in, getting there. If it's a 580F,it should be a 4/55 engine, same as a 995/996. Nearly sure it should be stamped on the block above the starter. Think the 1210 and a few others also used the 4/55 but with different power outputs.
Being a red engine instead of Case Yellow/Tan or whatever it's called, who knows what it's out of...
CH837, should have said, not getting any youngerThanks for that, pulled the engine oil filter out, although it's grubby (ex coal board) time has been spent on it over the years, someone has etched CM836 on the housing, so should arrive next week, got the oil, (capacity to be worked upon, as the filler bung and dipstick fell off somewhere) and a good farming friend reckons he might have a scraping bucket for me, also ordered a hardox cutting blade which I'll weld in, getting there.
ThanksThe books seem to suggest 30 or 10w30 oil so it'll likely be ok. Shouldn't be any issue removing the sump.
12 series used same 4/55 engine but with an inline fuel pump not DPA.If it's a 580F,it should be a 4/55 engine, same as a 995/996. Nearly sure it should be stamped on the block above the starter. Think the 1210 and a few others also used the 4/55 but with different power outputs.

Plug with dipstick, used to fly out if the piston rings were worn. Was the dipstick a plug or cap, tried a couple of olline David brown parts dealers, nothing.
