Case drain

Were in the process of fitting a Quadsaw to our JCB Teleporter , we need a flow , a return and a case drain . question is can the case drain be a small pipe that runs back to tank or is it more complicated that that ? . Our hyd drive fans on the front hoppers have a case drain on a tee piece in the return line , this would be really simple so is it an option ? anyone who has fitted a saw to a teleporter any advice would be appereciated .

If it's gear motor and its not rotating in both directions then you can T the case drain in with the return pipe. Ideally the return pipe needs to free flow back to the hyd tank. If the motor is rotating in both directions then it's a no, as you will pop out the main shaft seal. If a piston motor fitted then you must only run the drain back to tank. It will be difficult to have a third pipe on telehandler as I presume you will need to telescope the boom in and out to reach the high branches. The only option is to fit a cast iron gear motor that doesn't require a drain line which are often found on hedge cutters.
