Can anyone tell me what kind of road speed they've had on a CASE IH MX270?
I know they are 40k but just wondered if it's a "just about 40km/h" kind of tractor or if they do a bit more?

I can't remember in all honesty, was too long ago. It was a big tank of a thing on the road, bonnet it out in the road at junctions, be even worse with a front linkage.

Old style Magnums with the HE-MAN gearbox were plenty fun on the road, shunt-shifting your way up the box meant you'd need a neck-brace eventually.

The top speed of them isn’t really a ‘thing’ on a tractor like that.

About 20 years ago a building contractor got a 7250 pro out on demo, he had 40k 1056 Turbo’s and a 5150.

He put a 16 ton digger on low loader and 3 buckets. Weight probably about 21-22 ton. It was pulling up hills at 20mph where the maxxum was in second range.

He worked out it was doing about 2mpg so bought a lorry.
