Was Driving Down the road in High Ta when it changed down and then back up on its own with out me doing anything?? Would this likley to be a switch on the dash issue?? Only done it once. Case 895 xl

If it's pretty much working correctly most of the time I'd suspect this is problem is caused by wire breaking issue where the harness goes into the solenoid under the tractor.
This was a common failure

Yes I have had similar intermittent fault for years. It went completely at one point to return this winter making use of hi t/a impossible. It was traced to a plug/join in the wiring below the cab. I could not sort it but our local indi found it fairly quickly.
