Case JX1100U spool problem

So our 2007 JXU has an issue... one of the spools is very slow to operate.
It's the billy basic spec 2 spool non-adjustable block, with one spool on detent/kickout, and both spools with a float positon.

The spool with detent/kickout was working perfectly last year, however between then and now something has happened meaning it flows very slowly both ways. The tractor isnt straining so it seems to me like it's a spool problem and not a blockage in the couplers.

I have no experience of splitting spool blocks whatsover.

Before I send it to the dealer, does anyone know about these blocks, and are they easy enough to remedy?

Maybe if you change the heading and include the New Holland TL/TLA/T5000 you might get more replies as they are the same tractor and more of them around.
I have a TLA and there is only one spool on it but there is a bolt on it that changes it from single acting to double acting

^ true, cheers.

the basic spec spool block is the same as supplied on MXU's when I was in the dealers a few months ago asking one of the mechanics how to adjust the block. He showed me the same block on an MXU.
There is nothing to adjust on them whatsoever - from what I can determine, they come preconfigured as two spools, both double acting with float, one spool with detents and kickout.
It's kinda stupid really because even tipping a trailer, you have to push through the other direction to float, to let the oil return without straining the tractor!! which took me a bit to get my head around. The other drivers (brother, dad) in their ignorance would just let the tractor strain, on a single acting ram return.

So, I have checked: The levers work fine. The spool position appears the same on both sides, so I don't think it's an adjustment issue.

I haven't checked: I don't know if it's both ways or just a single way that's the problem. On a double acting ram, both ways are slow, but that does I'll do that tonight, since it will narrow down the fault. Might even be as daft as a bit of crap in one of the couplers, which which would be embarrassing.

Have a 04 JX1100U, on ours you can adjust the flow on the spool with the detent using the dial mounted next to the rear right hand mud guard. You can reach it out the back window. I thought I read it (many years ago) that it was standard to have one spool with adjustable flow. Never used it before last season when we got a silage wrapper and had to adjust it to make it work right. When you change to the mower or rake and forget to change it back it leads to the same as what you are experiencing everything is very slow until you realise what you have done.

oh no... am I that stupid?

I checked that flow adjuster a while ago (label long gone, had to work out what it even was for) and of course, I've totally forgotten that it even existed.
For some reason I seem to remember thinking it was for the lift arms instead? This might just be my mind playing tricks on me!

So first thing tonight... I'll have a play with it!
