Does anyone know what engine was fitted in the JX90 built in Hungary?
Was it Iveco or Cummins?

If it's a JX, it was built in Turkey. If it's a JXU it was built in Italy. Neither had Cummins engines. Both used Iveco which is Fiat,NEF and FPT...
The European Engine Alliance, or EEA came about when Cummins,Iveco and CNH joined forces to produce engines. Cummins' shares were bought out by Fiat in 2008.
It will probably say EEA Iveco or NEF on a plate on the engine and the oil filler cap with integrated dipstick are a giveaway that it's an Iveco engine.

As others have said, it depends on the exact model. JX / JXU. A few different types of engine exist, but all are quite reliable.

The transmission + rear axle will be Fiat design origin. The more basic ones had old school clutch. The slightly more deluxe versions had things like elctro hyd clutch packs/splitter gearbox/left hand power shuttle. Some of these can give trouble, it has to be said. But that can often be down to the previous drivers.

Hyd pumps (usually two) can also give trouble, as theyre quite small + basic.

In a nut shell, for UK buyer, you would find it easier getting parts for the very deluxe versions, as there were more of these sold in the UK (wether that be in dark red or blue bonnet format) and hence parts stockists cater for what is in there locality.

Later JX's were built in Italy.
I'm not sure at what point they changed from Turkey to Italy, but some one did tell me to avoid the ones where the pedals go down through the floor, rather than pivot from up under the steering column.
