Case maxxum 130 mc

The other night while ploughing in the dark with all the lights in. I went to change from gear 12-13 and the tractor just dumped into neutral. I engaged forward and went from 9 up to 12 and then when I went to 13 despite the dash saying I was in 13th I was actually back in 9th. I also tried In low range and it does the same when going from 4-5. It says 5th but actually I'm back in 1st.

I stopped the tractor for a few minutes and when I started it again it was fine. I did notice the dash also said voltage was only 13.1v so I've fitted a new alternator but it hasnt made any difference and it's doing it more often.

I've calibrated the gearbox and all values are as expected and it only does it when the tractor is hot but if switched off for a couple of mins it's fine again.

I assume it must be the actuator/solenoid which performs the range change from 4-5 and 12-13. Has anyone ever had this problem and has anyone changed one??

Our old MXU and the newer Maxxum 110 would some times sh1t themselves like that for whatever reason.

I'm more amazed that you're attempting to plough in 13th?! Surely it comes to an absolute dead stop before trying to get going again in 13th?

My old mxu has never done it and neither has this one until recently which makes me think something's wrong.

I didn't explain myself very well. I wasn't ploughing in 13th it was when I wanted to go home, I'd been ploughing all day do she was hot and had been working hard.

Very strange, not heard of it myself before. Keep an eye on it.

Had do some electrical repair under the side panel of our MXU once, had to pull it all apart, gear shift dismantled as well. Re-assembled and every time you pressed to upshift it would down shift again straight away, took it apart again and one tiny single piece of copper wire from the down shift was touching upshift, pushed it back down out the way again and all was well.

I'm pretty confident that it's a solenoid, which ever one it is?
I know there's several one each on clutches c1-c4 and forwards/reverse but I'm not sure how the range change between 4-5 and 12-13 is controlled.

What makes me think it's a solenoid is that I had a exactly the same problem with the PTO on my mxu. It would work fine when cold then sometimes intermittently when hot you would engage the pto and it would disengage again, stop the tractor for a few minutes and it would be fine. A new solenoid solved that.

There's a pair of sensors that detect the position of the hi/lo selector rail, one of these is playing up, they're located in the side of gearbox somewhere back from the battery

Thanks. Have you had first hand experience of this problem?
The opposite was happening to me, instead of selecting 9 it was going into 13. The part numbers you are looking for are 82108880 and 82018879, I'm not sure which one is which switch is which but your dealer will tell you and you might be as well off replacing both, it's a simple job.

That's great thanks!!!

I was going to have a chat with the dealers service manager this morning to see what he thought it could be, I'll suggest that to him. I'm sure he'll want to send someone out but push hard enough and they'll normally supply the info so I can do it my self.
