Hi all, we have a case mx200, it has no steering and wont drive at all. It occasionally takes up drive for 3 or 4 feet then jumps back out. No low pressure lights on dash or anything.

Will have a low pressure circuit for drive of about 20 bar bled of main pump can probably muster that for a few seconds on start up. The MX pumps fail quite regular you can take the pump to bits to see what's gone on. There is a internal charge pump that could be gone if you take main hyd filter off and start it if no oil comes of its knackered from what I can remember it's been 15 years since I've played with one so dont take it as gospel!

To be clear, this is an MX200 Magnum (small brother to the MX240)?
These tractors have two gear pumps and one PFC pump.

The steering is taken from the front section gear 102l/min pump, surplus oil fills the regulated circuit which will include clutch pack fills.

(2) is the tandem gear pump
(3) is the supply from the front pump to the priority valve on top the gearbox.

I recall failures with those pumps from my time with Case, I found a photo of one that had split one of the pump gears.....the next gen JAZ serial no. tractors used the PFC pump to supply steering

Hi Richard thanks very much for your reply, apologies I've been busy over Christmas. Yes it's an mx200 magnum, would you reccomend having a look at that gear pump? There is no low pressure lights on but I'm not sure if the lights are working. Cheers

Ideally you really ought to do a flow test of the front section on that gear pump to see if there's any output. But if you want to jump ahead a few steps then that pump comes off quite easy, just prizing out a few inches you'll see if its eaten the shaft splines like the pictures below.
Be aware that you will need to drain down the tranny oil
As you can see the gear broke on the keyway causing it to jam, which in turn damaged the pump driveshaft

It might be worth just checking and verifying that the steering pressure is OK, just in case the RV is sticking. Maybe even remove and clean the valve to check for a sstuck poppet inside or broken spring
Plug a gauge in the steering line and see what it reads

I don't ever recall hearing what actual the root cause was, only that the 2nd Generation MX Magnums went to the PFC pump to control the steering

I don't think that tractor had a dash warning for low Reg Pressure, but it will have stored an error code or two.

You can access that by pressing the diag button, then the prog button to enter each menu, incr and decr cycle through the codes and to erase them all press the incr and decr buttons and hold for 10 secs to wipe all codes from that controller
