Case optum. Punching well above its weight

All relative though isn't it? The modern pocket rockets would've been considered a big lump back in the day, and considering how the other modern 300+ models carry themselves the Optum is a pocket rocket!
At least in my opinion when switching from the MF 8740S into the Optum 300 it feels like you've just hopped into something half the size of the Fergie, not 3 quarters like the bonnet suggests!
I am interested in how you rate the pulling ability of the case v the Massey?
As I'm thinking of trading in a Massey 8737 for an Optum 300.

Going by figures from tractordata.com using just shipping weights, a 7610 Ford would be about a ton lighter, or 33% lighter than a t4.105.
A Magnum 7250 (276hp) would be about a ton and a half lighter than an Optum.
New tractors are heavier

When you put it in terms like that it is mind blowing really. Back in the day I considered a 7250 or JD 8400 a fudging big tractor and they weren't that common to see about. I felt lucky to be able to drive one when for the usual student jobs you'd get 120hp if you were lucky.

Now even dairy farmers are running big tractors and triple mowers, etc.

Haven't tried a massey but we seriously rate our Optum. Been pulling a 4m topdown in last few days but will equally spin fertiliser on without being overly big for the job. A proper modern workhorse imo.

What kind of mower are you running? We have, a few years ago cut with our MF365 60hp 2 wheel drive pulling a 3m John Deere 1360 moco. Granted I couldn't get to 10kph but don't think there were many cobwebs hanging about after a few days cutting.

I'm not knocking the op as the new Optum is a tidy looking outfit, but to call a 300hp tractor weighing 10.5 ton a "pocket rocket" is a bit of a rash call.

Agree, I've a john deere 6520, that's more of a pocket rocket than a 300 horse tractor
