Case Puma cvx transmission

Never knew about the anti jacknife thing. Gonna have to try this. Coming down a greasy hill with forage wagon and you really want the brakes dragging on the wagon to hold you straight, this can be done on most tractors by feathering the brakes on and off to get pressure in the trailer brake. On puma cvx you touch the brake pedal and transmission braking is so fierce it will break traction and you have the wagon pushing you down the hill

It was only avaliable with a software update so if it doesn't work its a dealer job

Only driven the NH version, but absolutely love it! It's easily one of the most operator friendly varios on the market, so simple to jump on and drive.
As for the anti jackknife system, once you've used it, it's fantastic - if you hold down the direction button, on the joystick, as you're moving it'll bring up two " squiggly lines " on the screen, continue to hold the button and press the brake pedal and the lines turn green to show the anti jackknife system is activated, and only the trailer is braking so it won't be pushing the tractor down the hill.
Think the latest update the tractors now have intelligent braking where you pull back on the stick and as you do so the tractor applies the trailer brakes?

I was told this only works with trailers stuff with air brakes but not sure. Would be great with oil trailers too as we’ve nothing with air lol.

Air brakes!!!
Mine are awesome touch the pedal enough to put brake lights on and the air system pre charged enough that the wagon will hold you back

Do you the intelligent trailer braking update or the anti jack knife? Because anti jack knife works with oil brakes, we’ve got a couple of trailers, and a tanker, on oil brakes and anti jack knife works with all of them (y)

Havent got it yet but it’s a new stage 5 so will be the intelligent trailer braking.

My pickup is terrible,, I press the accelerator down to go faster forward,,,, Hard to comprehend is that to go faster in reverse I still have to press the accelerator down, so hard to work out 🙄
Get over yourselves. NO probs with Case

There's also another very easy solution to this "problem".. Just use pedal mode

I would rather have neither of them! But regardless of what anyone says a £5000 repair bill is not cheep !

A 5k repair bill can definitely be dirt cheap. With our forestry machines we do all the smaller things ourselves and only bring them in for major surgery, getting a 5k bill would be a very welcome sight!

Friend told me that replacing an alternator on their Ponsse Beaver cost 15k€. Can this be true or am i remembering incorrectly?

We used to run a T7.200 auto command and the anti jakeknife works well. I used to use it on long descents to save the tractor breaks. It was a easy to use tractor and pretty reliable, dealer back up was excellent (New Hollands wasn't) and the engine was very good. It was a very simple tractor to operate and logically laid out. We now run a Claas and it is very similar to drive as the NH. I find most varios are quite easy to operate once you get your head around the fact they are a different way of driving.

So this works with oil brakes right? So if I’m heading down a hill loaded what is the procedure?

I spent the weekend reading the manual and I’ve come to the conclusion half of the learning should just be done in the cab.

I could be wrong here but it seems that you can finally run mid and rear spools both on the joystick?

The anti jacknife mode locks the transmission speed, works best in pedal mode. As lets you lift of pedal and apply brakes without transmission thinking you want to stop so you can apply the brakes to keep speed under control going down hill.
If you do want transmission to gear down a bit, just release button and re press it when it's at speed you want.
Like you say, best learnt in the cab.

Thanks. So if I remember you press forward on the stick while pulling back??

I’ve only tried pedal mode so far, gearbox feels like a dream but I’m finding it quite daunting just getting used to it. My right arm and left foot feel totally redundant :ROFLMAO:

So when I’m slowing down generally for a junction, I’ve been easing off on the pedal and using the exhaust brake, I tried easing back on the stick too and it felt like it was going to take off... so the clutch was quickly pressed!!

Press the forward reverse button forward on multi controller handle. You should see 2 lines like skidmarks appear on screen. This means its activated. This then means when you brake it doesn't disengage transmission. Just applies trailer brakes. As I understand it.

I had a couple near death experiences when ours took off with me spreading fert on a steep field in wet grass.

I just use pedal on road. Have used stick in past and tractor has taken off with me as you describe. Stick in field.

Just hold the forward button, don't pull on the stick.
It's mainly for keeping the wheels turning on slippy surfaces, like @Chae1 said, it can get interesting quite quickly if you lift of pedal on a slippery surface.
But it's also very handy on downhills at road speeds, lets you lift foot of pedal to use brake pedal, which applies all brakes. It doesn't apply any brakes by holding the button alone.

Will try it when I’m leading silage later this week. We’ve one field with a steep bank and I’m dreading making a cvnt of myself first time on it.... all this talk of tractors taking off when you brake doesn’t fill me with confidence!!

Set your speed on pedal, if tractor needs held back bit use the exhaust brake still keeping pedal steady if you feel it's needing held back bit more, hold the forward button and dab brakes as required.
I usually set middle speed to about 17mph for running along side forager, that gives you bit more control via pedal to match forager and bit of spare speed when needed.
I see you are doing bit of haulage on today at work thread, I'm sure you will have the hang of it ready for silage! 👍

For the money you've spent on the tractor the dealer should have someone capable of doing a proper handover and explaining how to operate it correctly.
You really should probably demand that they do.
Not knowing what you are doing and going on a steep field to learn is fecking crazy in my opinion, you could easily end up upside down at the bottom.
