so just looking at a 200ish hp tractor what are people’s thoughts? Always been MF but fed up with backup and dealer and so want a change.

JD seem expensive and reliability doesn’t seem what it was, so just want to know more about case. Also what are the equivalent NH tractor to a puma.

Don’t think there are to many bad tractor brands these days just all getting to expensive with toys on them that lets face it most of us don’t need or use. You hit the nail on the head in your opening post. Back Up from the dealer, without it your heading for a headache.
I have a 2 and a bit year old Puma 165 CVX with 2400 hours on it, first Case for me and won’t be the last. Very nice and straight forward to drive and is fully loaded with toys which I mostly use. Drill and sorayer are isobus which does away with the need for a baler bar so better visibility all round. 14 LED lighting package won’t be beaten, 10 of them were standard and 4 were on the extras list. Very comfy seat, fantastic engine and gearbox.
Only things I’d say need looked at going forward are paintwork could be better, larger front windscreen wiper(similar to Valtra would be good with side window wiper option) and marginally more spacious cab. Good bang for your buck and Case IH back up and dealership backup are faultless thus far. Can’t really see why there was as much as 33k between itvand Fendt at Purchase time and that was a straight buy without trade in.

All new Pumas due to be launched in 2019, maybe at the Sima show in Paris in February...………….that's if the rioters haven't reduced the place to rubble by then:whistle:

New Holland T7.245 is 200hp rated (Boosts to 245hp)
Is that a "new" Puma, or just the current Puma with the facelift headlights - like the Maxxum.

No experience of a CVX myself but talking to someone who runs them recently and he said the CVX and NH auto command work in different ways, the operation of the auto command being more like the MF dyna vt.
As I say, I have no experience of either of the CNH boxes but it could be the case that if you currently have a dyna vt it would be worth trying a NH.

Try them all and get a price then go from there...
We have had 4 pumas over the last few years both cvx and powershift and when looking to swap this spring just happened to price a blue equivalent to the 165cvx we were looking as. Price difference was staggering somehow. Very high spec with Gps, led lights, isobus unlock etc. 5 year warranty on both so it’s needless to say there is a blue one in the shed with it’s red brothers now.
I’m surprised to say I much prefer the NH auto command setup to case cvx. Both gearbox’s behave the same just the user interface is a lot handier in the NH I believe. Few niggles with it but that’s what warranty is for and it will be traded away before it runs out!

I guess it will look similar to the new Maxxum and Optums introduced 2 years ago. Current Pumas have dated quite well given the original long wheel base versions were introduced in 2007, but its time for a refresh I think and presumably NH versions may get an update as well although they did get new bonnet designs back in 2016.

I have a 3 yr old CVX 160 and a new CVX 165 both are great tractors and were so much cheaper than any other brand and they are well specked good engine comfortable nice gear box.
Other brands may have bits and bobs about them that some people prefer but £ for £ especially as its my money a CVX is great value

Completely agree with your above comment. I thought the Fendt was a very well made tractor with good features and excellent built quality however the reliability seems not as it once was say with the old style 818 as an example which were brilliant and very reliable. Personally with the 33k difference I thought if i were to borrow that extra amount it would be better utilised elsewhere in other long term investments that will give a return.

Out of interest what is the new Holland equivalent of a case cvx 225? And what do they call the vario transmission? Is it auto command?

TIA

Auto command is the NH which is a pulse system like the Fendt I believe. Seems to work well as neighbour has 2 with auto command but also has got a new Puma CVX and prefers it. His New Hollands are on a 2-3 year hire agreement and seem cheap so he is happy as are his operators who drive them. Think you are correct on the T7.225 model being equivalent to the Puma 175 CVX.

Just my words about the NH having better layout

Very happy so far. Came away from a Fendt which was/is a good tractor but the new prices are unjustifiable now. The CVX has everything the Fendt has that we used but includes RTK steering which the Fendt didn’t.

The Fendt suspension is superior to the CVX and the gearbox slightly smoother but that’s about it. The CVX cab is nicer in my opinion.

Fuel use is about the same at around 12-14l/hr average across all jobs but the CVX uses a lot less adblue than the Fendt although can’t say I’ve checked tank sizes to compare.

The CVX was £26k cheaper but included the RTK steering.

Lee have you bought the case. And if so which hp did you go for?
