Case warranty??

I'm a farmer/contractor son from Pembrokeshire which we run a fleet of new holland and john Deere tractors, but last year we purchased a new case puma tractor from our local dealer with three years manufacture warranty. We ordered a 160hp tractor the same as we had already but in blue!! When she arrived she had the same power as our 210 JD!!! So we had our local mechanic on the yard one day working on our TM 140 and he had his dyno with him, so we decided to put the case on it, believe it or not we had a reading of 204hp before boost!!! We discussed this with our mechanic and he advised us that it had been remapped, and most probably did not have any manufacture warranty as all manufactures state any electrical remapping is warranty void.

Worried about our three year manufacture warranty we contacted some of our friends, family and neighbours who purchased the same make from the same dealer and all said the same all tractors had serious power and expensive on fuel, and most were worried about their warranty!!!! One of my friends advised me that his JXU 105 had more power than his NH 6120 which he couldn't understand!!!

I just wanted to ask people for their advice before I contacted case head office not the dealer to see where we stand.

Just keep your mouth shut, and be grateful its not the other way round with no power.

The dealer has probably re mapped it because the new engines are shyte and did it to keep you happy as he probably thought you was a moaning git.
And how correct could he of been, FFS moaning because your tractor is better than you thought.(n)

No. He's moaning cos the transmission is likely to go bang with the extra power and left with a big bill cos manufacturers quite rightly dont want to know

Just plead ignorance if any problems. Final 2 years of cnh warranty is insurance warranty and the warranty company won't be working on it. Dealer does job and sends in claim.

I d sell it after warranty out.

Just ask Mark what he's done, and get him to undo it?

I'd have said it's not worth making an enemy of him, by going straight to CNH.: there's always another deal.

How would you be proposing to explain that to the guy you're going to be selling it to, then?

Just trade it in.

Not many people sell tractors privately.

It will probably be fine. Plenty tm155s putting out circa 200hp and were fine.
We often sell privately, hence the question; it's great experience and encourages everyone to keep stuff looking tidy and well-maintained, as one day there'll be some farmer on the yard asking questions that have to be answered.

Wouldn't like to be a rep, having to assess a tractor on the strength of 5 minutes' use.

Do questions have to be answered?

Write sold as seen on invoice and tell them where to go if they come back complaining.

I don't give any warranty or expect any when selling privately.

The simple answer is, the red tractor number is the unboosted power, the blue tractor number is the boosted power, no hocus pocus at all.
Puma 160 max power at 1900 revs 177, boosted 203, numbers from the red pamphlet.

True this could all be a huge misunderstanding. Rather than going to CNH HQ, who in all probability will just tell you to speak to your dealer first, do just that. If you're really concerned about it, ask the dealer to dyno it for you with a printout and compare the rated/max and boosted figures with what you're expecting. If it's wildly out (either way) ask dealer to please explain. That dyno test is also your proof from the franchised dealer, should you ever have any engine power warranty disputes. It's not rocket science.

Exactly if it was the blue version would have 200 on the bonnet.
