Cash is King or Not?

Back on the cash discussion. A friend has just collected a previously booked Rolex from a local jeweller. He paid £10,000 cash deposit about 18 months ago and the balance of £10,000 on collection. He's known to the jewellers as a long standing customer but they had no issue at all taking the cash as I was with him when he picked it up. I am now on the waiting list for a much less expensive version but doing the same thing. Cash deposit and cash balance when its ready to collect.
I believe he paid just over the minimum as to when the jeweller has to notify HMRC , I think its any amount above 10k euros.

If thats the case then because he's a long standing customer I would think they probably put the £10,000 through in two lots if that makes sense.

Get rid of cash & you've no need for bank branches, it suits banks profits to close branches & make using cash far more difficult.
Traditional banks are going the way of the Post Office when you allow cheap online services to cream off the most profitable parts.

Driving from Wales many years ago we stopped for fuel near Telford. The driver went off to pay but came back asking what cash we had ? Filling station didn't take cards. He offered a cheque with his name and address on the back, but they didn't know him and refused the cheque. We just found enough.

Exactly.
It's why I use it as much as possible.
Once cash is gone then we are screwed.
Every transaction on card is a data mine for companies and gov.
Everything about you can be tracked via digital payments
And if your spending pattern is politically out of favour, your card will have "technical issues".

It is a blatant power grab from the citizenry by the politically connected managerial caste. They want profit and wealth by force, or total control of economic choice.
It is so much easier than producing goods and services.
