Castle boarding

Going to put some castle boarding on cow shed, what's the sizes of timber to use for this? And what timber to use so it stands up to weather? I'm thinking 6"x1" for the boards about 1"apart and 2"x1" to go between boards.

6 by 1 was too stuffy for mine, I now do 4 by 1.
same here 4 inch board 1" gap

whats the difference Yorkshire boarding (space boarding or gap boarding) and castle boarding is castle boarding where there are 2 sets of gap boarding one set on the inside of the purlin? with the inner set covering the gap in the outer set?
