CAT scanner sensitivity

What sort of cable size can you locate with a CAT scanner? Would it pick up something as small as a woven electric fencing wire, at 2-3 feet down? I need to trace some drains, which direction they go in, preferably without digging holes everywhere, and was hoping to fix a wire to my drain jetter hose and then use a CAT scanner to mark the line. Would that work?

I think you'll need power going through the cable, or use a genny with the scanner.

Just googled it, I had no idea such a thing existed! But would such a device be water proof?

You can buy a special waterproof tub that houses the emitter and screws on the end. Borrowed neighbours in the spring. Was great. Must get one bought.

Not sure what size drains you deal with but that's to big for a lot of the 2 inch pot pipes we come up against, the ferret finder is much smaller
