CAT telehandler head stock

Hello

Dunno if I´m an idiot or not. Bought a Cat telehandler on the Hewden auction today. TH414C. Know nothing about them, or any other telehandler to tell the truth.

Google does not improve my knowledge all that much. I guess the head stock is CAT specific? Think I found one bucket for sale, in Ukraine!!! Not a country I´m very comfortable with.

Don´t understand why telehandlers can´t have a universal headstock like euro.

Any tips on where to get implements at a reasonable price? Need a bucket.

Or maybe it´s better to change the headstock to something more conventional like manitou?

Any tips appreciated.

Don't take it for granted it has a cat headstock.
Can you post a pic of it?
As you've discovered you'll be lucky to drop on a bucket with cat brackets.
A bucket with unpopular/oddball brackets will be cheap enough then just weld some cat brackets on

There are company's that will convert original or build new head stocks for machines, converting them from one type to another. You could try Cherry Products but I think you have to go through a main stream dealer.

Multec in Northern Ireland seem to specialise in telehandler adaptor units:

Nothing for a Cat handler on their site, but I expect they'd make one.

You can't tell off a picture. Where I worked we ran Cat and 7 machines had 3 different almost identical headstocks

Cat dealer over here is the dutch PON CAT. After market prices are just off the scale. I´ll call them tomorrow about a new bucket. I´ll bet it´s north of 4k pounds.

My understanding is that although the headstock may have changed design over the years on Cat THs, the tool/attachment interface between headstock and the tool should be common, known as the Cat "IT" interface, this interface has been used on Cat Backhoes, wheel loaders, telehandlers etc for well over 25years.

No they changed things. I know one had different stops spacings on the headstock were bucket pushes against not sure what other changes there were.

The actual interface, pin size, location and hook size and location hasn't changed, not saying a "clever" engineer didn't move the stops for some unbeknown reason, or the tolerance stack ups caused an issue, but the actual interface should be the same. (A grinder should sort it lol)

There is an issue trying to fit a front bucket from a Backhoe on a Telehandler due to the above reasons, but a genuine Cat bucket "should" fit across series of tele's

There is about 2" difference on the location of the stops bit more than a grinder needed.
