ive posted on the wanted but thought it may get more notice if I also put it on hear.anyway our th62 caught fire under the bonnet last week.causing a lot of damage all across the top of the engine and gearbox basicly anything rubber or plastic is damaged along with a few pipes and wires.i can get the parts from a breaker but it’s going to add up so I was wondering if anyone has a complete non runner accident damaged or even cab fired we can buy as a doner .nfu has agreed to right it off and leave us with machine so just need a pile of parts a few tins of paint and a few rainy days to get it done

Obviously i have not seen the damage, but in my experience it’s better to let fire damaged machines go. Usually far more cost involved putting them right than it first seems.

Had a handler do the same in the past that was not bad enough to write off, was never right after.

In similar circumstances instruction to staff now is to use extinguisher for safe escape only, let the machine burn if there is no danger of fire spreading.

You may well be right .but Nfu have ritten it off as its an old machine and the cost of new parts if they are available plus labour would probably be over half what its worth .the problem we have is the price of these old machines has gone up so its inshured for less than you can buy a replacement.so we have bought it back and will mend it .can do all the work ourselves so it’s just the cost of parts .

Was that a starter motor fire that spread to the air cleaner?
No the starter isn’t damaged not shure what started it it was parked in the shed at night luckily my nephew saw smoke coming from the shed.it seems to be mainly around the air filter fuel filter area next to the 2 selonoids dont think is a electrical fire as that would be a £500 exes on the inshurance
