I hate nipple drinkers for anything other than pigs (at a real push). Cows like to get their nose in the water. You see how quickly they can empty a 10l bucket. A small trough would be far preferable for calving pens and tipping troughs (that can be easily cleaned) for the slats.

You can get a cage to go around them but I didn't bother with it they are bolted to a 300mm square 10mm thick plate welded onto rsj with 50mm box section under them for support the they are in the corner so can't get at them too much. The actual strength of the bowl is very very strong as long as they are well supported so the Bulls havnt got any leverage on them. then the pipe goes up and runs along a perlin we lagged them and tacked angle iron on the rsjs so they can't get to pipes. They are v strong
