Cattle race gate

Looking to buy a cattle sliding race gate, seen one made by Kelfri but as they have no dealers in the south east and therefore cannot have a look to see if it will take the usual punishment. Any thoughts recommendations.

We have a couple of Ritchie ones. Had them for a few years with no problem. Regular handling of 150 finishers so not a vast amount of use.

I made mine, didn't think that the cheap-enough-ones were strong enough and the strong-enough-ones were too much money.

It was a bit of hassle though, can't find any photos just now - there are some in the 20,000 or so I have saved but I can't see them right now.

Recently bought an IAE sliding gate. Not cheap but works well. Slides both ways etc.
Bought one a few years ago, good kit. Moved it up the race and linked it to the crush, then bolted it to the back of the crush a little while ago, very well made. Just looked at the price, list is >£500 now, but I guess it can be got for a fair bit less.

This is ours. You don’t want it sheeted at all as it will stall the flow and they’ll back up. We find if it’s horizontal bars they sometimes climb it with their front feet so went all vertical bars.
To stop them opening it with their heads I put a ratchet on there, to be honest I would always have this just in case one following gets their head through, if it tries to open the gate it will throw you over.
I did think about putting a ‘squeeze trigger’ on the handle to make it one handed but this is simple and works fine.

It runs on 4 small castor wheels off the internet, on M10 bolts. These run in angle iron. There is a run of weld across the angle, the wheels bounce over this when fully open, which keeps the gate open but means it slams shut easily and single handedly.
Cost was about £100 all in I’d guess.

I quite like the half panel at the bottom. It gives them that ‘go for it’ feeling when you slide it out, they can see they’re buddy moving away in front through the grill in the top half.
Worst one is someone keep twitching the gate.... makes them jumpy.

Mine have the bottom 4 feet as a panel and rails above, stops them opening it or climbing up.
