Cattle trailer, 28ft, any recommendations?

Morning, we're looking at moving cattle up to the mountains thats about an 1hr and 45 minute drive by car. Our idea is to perhaps buy either a second hand or new cattle trailer. The previous farmer use to get them hauled on either one double decker or two smaller cattle lorries but reasonably expensive costing him about 3500k per year. They go up in June, about 30 to 35 cows and calf's, and come back October to some off ground, and then finally back here. Weigh about 550 kgs on average.

So our idea was having a trailer would eventually pay itself off? and less stress on the cows and us being more convenient.

I've read plenty of threads on the forums. We have a Duetz Agrotron 165 Mrk3, 45 Kph, and can probably get a 28ft trailer down our hairpin road - our bail trailer fits but the axle is more towards the middle. We don't have air brakes.

Ideally two trips which is probably pushing it on weight? Aluminum over steel? whats the best manufacture these days? ideally one in Ireland or Europe. I have found several recommended on the forums looking over the last few months but I've lost all of the bookmarks.

As you're in France, what's the rules ref haulage by tractor over that distance?

I have to say a haulier with a lorry will still be cheaper if you account for all of your time and true running costs

Get about 12 Jersey and mixed cows on to it on a load
Excellent as it lowers to the ground on hydraulics so cows don't baulk at getting on board

(Not our trailer btw but it is exactly the same)

So 35 cows and calves (age unknown) but I assume beef "broutards" would be 5 loads in this?

Thanks, I've just looked at their website - there largest model claims 17 to 18 cows? so I think looking more towards three or four trips given their horned. I never know whether its better to pack them in tight so they can't move and a separate compartment for the calf's. Going up about 3 months age. Just I want to apply for 25% grant on help for buying so looking now for next year. I like the hydraulic lift.

What’s the best 30ft tractor drawn livestock trailer?

What’s the best 30ft box. We would want sheep decks as well. Having said that Anyone with experience of that size trailer? We’ve currently a 26ft Hudson. It’s a good trailer but being one of the cheapest on the market it’s build quality is maybe not as strong as it could be.
