Cattle trouble

Hi all,

Looking for some help and advise. Over the last few years when the young cattle around (12/13m) are in the shed around they seem to come out with ringworm.
This year we tried holly as soon people say that helps, the cattle were all clear for a good few months but then they looked worse than ever and this is what they look like now

I know people say that it will clear in time but is there anything that I could use to prevent this happening again next year? Also is there anything I can put in them now to clear things up, some of them look a right state.

Thanks all.

I used to have a problem with warts on my housed cattle - nothing as bad as yours though. The shed had some old division panels made of timber. I pulled them out and replaced them with concrete panels. I also go round with a knapsack sprayer and spray an anti-viral disinfectant around the shed before I put the stock inside. Its reduced the warts by 99%

Please don’t abrade cattle with a wire brush (welfare!) before dowsing them in known carcinogens. These animals are a food product!

British farming, highest standards in the world....
Pay us a fair price for beef with the highest standards in the world and we will book them into a private clinic ,Otherwise suck it up with your hormone, rainforest destructing beef and chlorinated chook

I must be misunderstanding you, because I read that as you’re threatening to deliberately poison your cattle in protest at the current beef price?

Please clarify what is a “fair price”? Put a figure on it in pounds and pence.

its bovine papillomavirus ,, ivermectin jab sc 0.1cc per kg and the same again 14 days later and they will drop of pretty quick.
we have done everything to try and get rid of it from our herd and we only get it on maybe 2 animals out of 90 per year and then just 1 or 2 little warts on the head ,
wire brush and sump oil sounds a bit redneck if they bleed they spead they are infectious !

Nobodys poisoning any beef. Anything above £3.50 per kg deadweight.

Generally get a couple of stores with it. They disappear in their own time usually. I think wire brushing and then putting sump oil on them is a bit much.
With regards to the beef price it will be what it will be and there’s bugger all any of us can do about it unless we are processing it and selling it ourselves. We have one of the highest beef prices in the world as it is.
The thing each of us should be concentrating is reducing our costs per kg as that is within our control.
