Cattle trouble

Generally get a couple of stores with it. They disappear in their own time usually. I think wire brushing and then putting sump oil on them is a bit much.
With regards to the beef price it will be what it will be and there’s bugger all any of us can do about it unless we are processing it and selling it ourselves. We have one of the highest beef prices in the world as it is.
The thing each of us should be concentrating is reducing our costs per kg as that is within our control.
We have got our costs screwed to the floor as it is, we are just getting pi##ed around with fake news all the time. Too many mixed messages about what type of beef they want and the goal posts being moved all the time to keep us chasing our tails. The other day i was explaining to a foreign tb testing inspector who had worked in slaughterhouses on the cutting line in the past about the deductions we have in regards to FA , age, weight and the awful tb compensation. I also explained we are only 70% self sufficient in beef which he thought would be great for our prices until i told him we are a-wash with foreign imported meat, harming uk farming families livelyhoods. He looked at me like i had two heads, he couldnt believe it. We the uk farmers are bloody fools to put up with it all, bloody fools.

Please don’t abrade cattle with a wire brush (welfare!) before dowsing them in known carcinogens. These animals are a food product!

British farming, highest standards in the world....
Next time someone on here moans about American beef in feedlots getting hormones, ionophores, beta agonists and prophylactics I will remember the advice given here

Its been an old time cure for years and even people with warts are told to redden them abit before applying strong solutions of nasty stuff. Horse sarcoids are burnt off with horrible vet only stuff that burns skin raw so f##k off with your nimby sh#t. I have forgotten more about stock than you moaning fools will ever no . Daily mail and anti farmer types can kiss my a#se. Forum keyboard warriors always playing devils advocat , clowns. Try posting something from experience rather than looking it up on google first. Have a lovely sunday.

Bovine papilloma= warts.
Can make a vaccine, use Salicylic acid ointment or, like most harmless but cosmetically undesirable conditions (including ringworm) just add time and an immune system. Your accountant will prefer the last option as both inputs are free.
The Holly and Homeopathic potions only work if you add the time bit too.

its bovine papillomavirus ,, ivermectin jab sc 0.1cc per kg and the same again 14 days later and they will drop of pretty quick.
we have done everything to try and get rid of it from our herd and we only get it on maybe 2 animals out of 90 per year and then just 1 or 2 little warts on the head ,
wire brush and sump oil sounds a bit redneck if they bleed they spead they are infectious !
@axehandle is that right 50ml under the skin for 500kg animal? I thought 10ml was nearer?

there are all sorts of a-holes creeping around farms, completely unknown to farmer, just looking for 1/2 an excuse to drop you in the shite, we had a vegan prowling around for a year, unbeknown to us, that turned out to be hassle no one would wish for, we were lucky, basically thanks to RT, we were fine, but, the photos, certainly gave a very very different impression.
Some of the zealots, are so far up their own asses, they will go to extreme lengths, to show, they are right, and you are wrong, in our case, it took 12 months, to get 2 very dodgy photos, of a down cow, post calving.
So, anyone wanting to express 'cures', that even appear to be cruel, really needs to engage brain, before printing them, you can guarantee this forum is 'monitored', they only need a small excuse, and they go public, and it's professionally done, any farmer 'caught' up in this sort of thing, doesn't stand a chance, it's immediate professional help, as soon as you have any idea, you are being targeted.
So it doesn't really matter, what you think, it's what the gen public think, of a professionally presented, case of cruelty. And, l can guarantee you never want to find yourself, in that position.

Of course, one of the best cures for pig mange actually was half a pint of new engine oil rubbed into the skin. Pre Ivermectin of course.
Is Grisovin powder mixed with feed still an approved cure for ringworm in cattle?

l don't think so.
there is an effective vaccine though.
it's a problem that looks horrendous, but will disappear without treatment. Apparently, it works on a 7 yr cycle, ie, every 7 years, it becomes a massive problem, otherwise, just showing a few signs.
We find groups of cattle growing well, seem to avoid it, it's more of a problem in cattle, that have had a 'check' for some reason, Also found free mineral access has helped.

Don't need to put anything on warts just pull some off or make them bleed the animals immune system will do the rest
I’m sorry but this is not true, it might work on a few but not the ones I’ve ever had, teats are pickled in them, culled 15 heifers in last 2 years. They are the feathery type. I’ve had heifers when I’ve stopped milking the 1/4 the warts have got worse and this is on 2 1/2 year old animals 6 months into lactation. It’s getting really disheartening at the moment
