We have got our costs screwed to the floor as it is, we are just getting pi##ed around with fake news all the time. Too many mixed messages about what type of beef they want and the goal posts being moved all the time to keep us chasing our tails. The other day i was explaining to a foreign tb testing inspector who had worked in slaughterhouses on the cutting line in the past about the deductions we have in regards to FA , age, weight and the awful tb compensation. I also explained we are only 70% self sufficient in beef which he thought would be great for our prices until i told him we are a-wash with foreign imported meat, harming uk farming families livelyhoods. He looked at me like i had two heads, he couldnt believe it. We the uk farmers are bloody fools to put up with it all, bloody fools.Generally get a couple of stores with it. They disappear in their own time usually. I think wire brushing and then putting sump oil on them is a bit much.
With regards to the beef price it will be what it will be and there’s bugger all any of us can do about it unless we are processing it and selling it ourselves. We have one of the highest beef prices in the world as it is.
The thing each of us should be concentrating is reducing our costs per kg as that is within our control.
