I've put my cb radio my 6125r jd and am having trouble with interference from the tractor wiring. CB is wired into battery and with ignition switched off i can have squelch turned right down, as soon as i turn key on and command centre boots up i have to turn the squelch nearly all the way up to get rid of the noise. have tried taking the power from my van battery but still does it, thought that it was maybe the aerial lead picking up wiring interference so had the aerial lead dangling outside the cab and cb sat on tractor mudguard but still does it. IThe aerial is fastened to the flashing beacon bracket- is it maybe an earthing issue? Any help much appreciated

Just wondering if its a old rig or new one, fitted one in my 6210r with bar across top of cab for twig, works spot on but its a old
rig,The newer rigs do have a problem at picking up interference tho.

You need an swr meter to check if its a grounding issue.
This is the one i bought http://www.4x4cb.com/public/item.cfm?itemID=823
I would try mounting on a bar on the roof, or at least away from the beacon as possible. Have found that our 7530 is particularly bad for interference issues. When the fan is on, all you can hear through the fm radio is static, unless you turn the beacon on, then it works perfect

First job is to decide where the interferance is getting into your cb, either through the power wires or through the ariel.
connect up CB as normal and make a note of how much noise you are getting.
second remove ariel wire from CB and do same check again. If there is no noise with ariel disconected then try moving ariel position and make sure you have a direct earth to chassis form ariel base.
If the noise is the same with or without ariel then you are possiblly recieving noise through the power wires, best would be go to maplins and buy some supression filters to put inline with power wires. also try moving Cb around cab it might be on other side of cab its fine.
All this might help,
This has been an issue for years, our old Masseys 3080/ 6180 were bad for it and the JD`s i knew of then were good to be honest.
