Central Heating Wood Outdoor Boilers

I noticed an advertisement for Central-Boiler Ltd, an outdoor wood burning central heating boiler and wondered if anyone has one/knows of any. The importing firm is based in Essex and the boilers are from the USA.

I wonder what the difference is between a straw burner system and this wood burning system. There is no mention of price in the advertisement or on the website, but I guess it is high. But then, oil is getting high too.

The gallery of customers' installations shows several large farmhouses, even stately homes. Of course, burning wood isn't free, there is a lot of labour involved and although there is plenty of wood around at the moment there will come a point when the trees will have to be replanted - depends on how long the boiler lasts too, I suppose.

Burning straw to its full potential involves more than just a big fire box as far as I understand. Local farm uses straw to heat chicken barns in winter but his straw burner set up is quiet involved. Yorkshireman friend and neighbour to me has a wood pellet stove. Can easily be automated and very efficient. He heats a sizeable house for a fraction the cost of kerosene

And get paid for it , if rhi approved.

RHI boat has sailed begining of this year. OWB had a poor reputation for emmissions I doubt whether they would meet UK standards unless they have improved dramatically over the last few years.

The Uk importer Central boiler UK are a shower of sh!t too, they came to service ours when it was still running moaned that it had not been serviced in the past correctly (a dealer of theres had been servicing it!) not quite sure what they did for the entire day as when i opened up the heat exchangers to check how clean they where they had not been touched, nor the flue, and the cracked bricks in the firebox had not been replaced (even though there was replacements there waiting). Took me nearly 6 months to get the servicing money back off them with a huge amount of determination as they just kept palming me off and not answering my calls unless i called from a number they didnt have stored!

Sounds like a big "don't touch!"

I know the RHI has now finished, a good thing too when we hear of all sorts of dodgy practices, like having wood boilers installed and then just burning them and the heat going nowhere except up into the sky. But the money keeps rolling in.

The Civil Servants who think up these schemes need to get up MUCH earlier in the morning to spot all the potential
wheeler dealer types exploiting schemes.

The RHI payments along with the FIT payments on your solar panels are paid from the Green Energy Tariff on everyone's electric bill. Last year this accounted for 25% of your bill. Everyone is paying to cover the RHI payments not the Government. Drax power station is the biggest recipient of ROCs.

Typical - poor people pay for rich people to benefit. However, my son installed an air source heat pump and it was the RHI refund that attracted him. He obviously had to find the money up front to install it.

The Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSENI) alongside the Farm Safety Partnership (FSP), has named new farm safety champions and commended the outstanding work on farm safety that has been carried out in the farming community in the last 20 years.
