Never been ,prefer to go to local trials as regards varieties and local ag shows for machinery.I'm sure there is interesting and thought provoking information to see but it's a little too far for me.

I'd like to be trendy and say I'm not going, but I didnt go last year and I have a ticket sorted courtesy of DSV.

If you're not all going that's more hog roast for me !

I also have a ticket. tbh I always learn something useful - usually glean some nugget from the technical chaps at Bayer etc about sub-lethal doses of random chemicals.....

Composium - they do the Sima show as well I think ?
Do you have any insider views as to whether management attitudes are changing?
Comexposium, the owners of Sima, now have a joint venture with Haymarket to run Cereals to enhance the Cereals event.

Comexposium are bringing a lot of thought and experience to the Show, that will highlight more what farmers want to see at it. They have managed to convince a lot of the manufacturers and exhibitors who had previously pulled out of the show to return to it. It wasn't the cost of the stands that was putting them off, but that they didn't see the return on their investment as good enough.

Cleverly, what Comexposium has also done, is to form a "Farmer Advisory Board" of 23 Farmers (I am one of them) to highlight the way forward and what the Show should be doing to make it more interesting to Farmers and attract a higher attendance.

We were asked what these might be. One of my answers was this:
"Less than a week after the 2016 Cereals event, this Country took a fairly monumental decision as to its future that will affect Agriculture very dramatically. Farmers will want to know which crops they should be growing for harvest 2019 and those that might need avoiding".

Getting into the show and registration should be a lot easier too. A lot of thought has gone into such details to reduce the hassle factor. If you do this at home before you get to the show, bar scanners will get you straight in.

There will also be some interesting debates, forums and seminars taking place discussing controversial subjects like machinery sharing, contracting, hire, finance, impact of Artificial Intelligence and how we can run tractors more efficiently.

I am fairly certain that the show will come over as refreshing and much more in tune with what the UK's Farmers needs are as from this year.

I have to attend another meeting there this coming Thursday. So will fill you in with more then.
