HORSCH Leeb 4 AX makes Cereals debut

The Leeb 4 AX marks a new entry point to the HORSCH range of trailed sprayers. Positioned just below the 4000 litre Leeb 4 LT, the 3800 litre Leeb 4 AX comes equipped with HORSCH’s BoomControl Eco system and can be specified with up to 30m booms and 50cm nozzle spacing. This smaller yet high performance and reliable sprayer uses the company’s renowned sprayer technology and is ideal for farms that do not require the larger capacities of the Leeb LT and Leeb GS.

The 3800-litre plastic spraying tank is complemented by a 400 litre fresh water tank and is designed for easy cleaning. A PTO-driven piston diaphragm pump is available with an output of either 270 l/min or 400 l/min. Two multi-way valves control the suction and the pressure sides of the machine respectively and offer clear and simple control. The 35-litre induction tank of the Leeb AX is similar to the one used in the larger trailed Leeb models and enables powders and granules to dissolve quickly and thoroughly.

upload_2019-5-2_16-46-34.png

BoomControl Eco enables the new Leeb AX to maintain a 50cm distance to the crop at operational speeds of up to 15kph. The working boom widths range from 18 to 30 metres, divided in five to nine sections and feature 50cm nozzle spacing as standard.

The drawbar can either be equipped with an upper or a lower linkage. An optional drawbar steering system that automatically follows the tractor tracks is available. Wheel track widths can be easily adjusted from 1.5m to 2.25m, and the Leeb 4 AX is fully ISOBUS compatible and can be used with the well-known HORSCH terminals.

Latest drills and cultivators on show

In addition to the Leeb AX, the latest Avatar SD and Serto SC drills, and Cruiser XL and Terrano GX cultivators will be on the stand.

Avatar SD seed drill with single disc coulter

The Avatar SD is now available in 3m and 4m working width in addition to the 6m, 8m and 12m versions. Due to the Avatar’s high tare weight, the new single disc coulter is ideal for direct seeding. The Avatar SD in 4m working width weighs 5,800kg, 9,300kg at 6m and 19,160 kg at 12m working widths. Despite the high weight necessary for a direct seed drill, the horsepower requirement of the Avatar SD is low as the SingleDisc coulters are arranged in two bars.

upload_2019-5-2_16-47-1.png

Serto SC is a compact seed drill

The Serto SC is a compact seed drill for large farms with working widths of 10m and 12m. It features an all-over tyre packer combined with a heavy double-disc seed coulter. Two seed coulters run behind every tyre with a row spacing of 16.6 cm, similar to the well-proven Pronto system, and the all-over packer lowers horsepower requirement and saves fuel.

upload_2019-5-2_16-47-33.png

Cruiser XL trailed cultivator with spring tine

The 5m and 6m Cruiser XL trailed cultivator fills the gap between the 3-point linkage mounted models and the 10m and 12m trailed versions. The cultivator can be equipped with four different cultivation points making it ideal for stubble cultivation with optimum straw distribution after combining, seedbed preparation, as a fine cultivator for mechanical weed control or for loosening and venting the soils in spring. A wide range of single and double packer are available.

upload_2019-5-2_16-47-49.png

Terrano GX universal cultivator

Available in 4m and 6m, the Terrano GX features 3- or 4-bar version with a tine spacing between 28.5cm and 31.5cm. It is equipped with the third generation TerraGrip, with its spring located in the frame and a 550kg release force with large and maintenance-free pivot points that guarantee a long service life. The cultivator can be equipped with four cultivation point options from intensely mixing to merely loosening for a wide variety of conditions. A wide range of single and double packer are available.

I can see this being the last year for cereals.was excellent show years ago but getting worse by the year and more expensive
Nick...

We have been able to speak to the new organisers of the show @nick... and they are showing a desire to breath fresh life into the show. We like you had felt it was spiraling after the last few years.

Totally agree that they need to show this to the farmers this year to change this path. But they are trying.

I take it you mean more expensive for exhibitors, as the tickets are cheaper this year for farmers.

McCormick back at the Cereals event to showcase latest 140-310hp arable tractors

High performance McCormick tractors for ploughing, cultivations, drilling and other arable farming operations return to the Cereals event on 12/13 June 2019 at Boothby Graffoe, Lincoln as manufacturer Argo Tractors continues to raise the profile of the range throughout the UK and Ireland.

“With its rejuvenated format and even greater emphasis on information to help arable farms perform profitably, we consider the Cereals event to be an ideal shop window for the 140-310hp tractors in the McCormick range,” says Adrian Winnett, managing director of Argo Tractors operations in the UK and Ireland.

“The new-generation X7 Series and the X8 Series cater for a broad range of arable farming applications and implements with a choice of powershift and stepless transmissions, different levels of equipment, and precision farming options that include factory-installed ISOBUS implement control and Topcon guidance, section control, variable rate applications and so on.

“So we’re pleased to be making a return to the UK’s leading arable farming event to showcase these features and encourage farmers and contractors to get behind the wheel to discover for themselves what the modern McCormick range has to offer.”

McCormick X8 VT-Drive

The top model in the McCormick range will take centre stage on Stand 842 at the Cereals event to highlight a three-model line-up of 264-310hp tractors that deliver a great deal of performance while being sufficiently versatile to handle operations such as manure and digestate spreading in addition to all tillage operations.

upload_2019-5-7_16-46-40.png

The tractors come to McCormick Premium specification, which means they have front axle and cab suspension, a top-spec driver’s seat, and the convenience of all-electric spool valves for the hydraulics system.

This is based on a 157-litre or 212-litre/min variable output piston pump, supported by a 115-litre/min piston pump dedicated to the steering and ancillary systems to ensure the main system never runs short of flow.

The high-output hydraulics package also includes 12-tonne capacity rear implement linkage paired with a three-speed pto system, and fully integrated 5-tonne capacity front links with optional pto.

These systems are configured to the optimum settings for different applications through the McCormick Data Screen Manager, a 12in colour touch screen terminal with ISOBUS implement control capability that is also used to set-up the VT-Drive stepless transmission.

This delivers seamless acceleration and ground speed control for optimum outputs and work quality with any implement, together with automatic adjustment of engine revs and transmission ratio in line with the parameters set by the operator.

Different modes that can be fine-tuned by the operator help extract the most cost-efficient performance from the powertrain while making the driver’s task easier and less tiring over a long working day – all the more so when Topcon guidance and other precision farming functions are added to Premier cab’s control features.

McCormick X7 P6-Drive and VT-Drive

The latest McCormick X7 Series tractors from 140-225hp will also feature at the Cereals event.

These latest-generation machines are available with the new P6-Drive semi-powershift transmission in addition to the stepless VT-Drive alternative, exhaust compression braking on all six-cylinder variants that relieves wear and tear on the friction brakes during road travel, and a new semi-active hydraulic cab suspension option.

upload_2019-5-7_16-47-16.png

Revised power outputs from the Euro Stage IV / US Tier 4 Final four- and six-cylinder engines include an automatic ‘boost’ when operating pto-driven implements such as power harrows and air drills, and when hauling trailers, tankers and spreaders on the road.

The P6-Drive transmission is an advance on the previous design in serving up more speeds in total and more powershift steps for a further improvement in speed control versatility.

Within each of the five ranges, the operator can shift manually or automatically among six powershift ratios to find the best ground speed for the prevailing conditions and the work being done.

While VT-Drive versions are available to Premium specification only, McCormick X7 Series tractors equipped with P6-Drive can be had to Premium and simpler Efficient spec. The latter will suit operators who want the same powertrain performance but are happy with manual spool valves and fewer electronic features.

Alli Mc here! Cereals rates are 21.35 per SQM which I think is quite reasonable compared to our largest competitor so that would be a really really big booth! That being said, exhibitors also have the transport of equipment and stand building which can be very costly in terms of third party logistics and designers. We are trying to keep the costs spent directly with us as an organiser down so that exhibitors can spend on putting their best face forward.

Sencrop's connect ag-weather stations return for their second year at the Cereals Event!

A leading European digital start up business with a new base in Cambridge, Sencrop's network of weather stations gives real-time support to decision-making on UK farms.

Sencrop’s wireless network technology uses innovative weather stations on individual farms. These gather a range of local agri-environmental data including air temperature, rainfall, humidity, leaf wetness, and wind speed in real time. The information feeds into a user-friendly dashboard, accessible on desktop or through a mobile app, providing history, alerts, trends, seven-day forecasts, and a brand new, live precipitation radar.

This new technology enables farmers to make decisions on a daily basis through field-level weather statistics, with one or more weather stations providing specific, localised data that saves time, money and increases efficiency. However, the real power of the Sencrop system is unleashed through the collaboration of neighbouring farmers sharing data via a seamless transmission from their individual field stations.

Decisions can now be made not just from the farmers’ own personal data but via local analysis and recommendations. This has already been proven elsewhere in Europe where Sencrop has operated since 2016 and today has nearly 7,000 farmers, wine growers and arboriculturalists using the network to manage decisions such as sowing, irrigation and disease control programmes.

Sencrop’s aim is to create real value from extensive data that will benefit the agricultural community including farmers, agronomists, contractors, research organisations, insurers and industry suppliers by offering more effective, faster and automated distribution of services and advice, tailored to specific, individual needs.

Already 200 stations have been installed in the UK and Ireland, and the pipeline is growing!

Sencrop weather stations are quick and simple to install. Low up-front costs and an affordable subscription model make multi-station weather data sharing achievable for all farm businesses and farming communities.

(y)(y) Partnering this year with The Farming Forum, Syngenta, and Premium Crops, come see a demo station at any of these stands and enter for a chance to win one of your very own! (y)(y)

CHAFER DEFENDER SELF PROPELLED SPRAYER TO DEBUT AT CEREALS

The new Chafer Defender self propelled sprayer, which offers all the benefits of its larger cousin the Interceptor but with reduced tank capacities and boom widths, will debut at Cereals 2019.

At the heart of the machine is a Bosch Rexroth hydrostatic drive train offering all the benefits of a CVT transmission allowing precise, infinitely variable control of each wheel motor, resulting in excellent field and road behaviour.

upload_2019-5-13_10-37-2.png

This advanced transmission features automatic dynamic traction force distribution, which compensates for changes in terrain, automatically adjusting each wheel motors displacement to give maximum traction and ensure hill climbing and descending are controlled at all times. Power for the Defender comes via a Deutz Tier 5 engine, offering 180hp, which is both fuel efficient and quiet.

The Defender has an extremely quiet and spacious New Holland forage harvester cab and load compensating axle air suspension on the machine keeps the operator comfortable in all conditions. All controls including a multifunction joystick are logically laid out in the operator console the position of which can be adjusted to suit the operator. Along with full climate control and multi stage air filtration, the cab offers a large buddy seat complete with an optional refrigerated compartment.

KUHN AT CEREALS 2019

AUROCK TO MAKE UK DEBUT AT CEREALS 2019

KUHN will exhibit its new AUROCK triple disc seed drill, which has the capability to establish crops under cover, in minimum tillage or direct drilling conditions, for the first time in the UK at Cereals 2019.

Targeting the growing conservation agriculture sector, but with the versatility for wider applications, the AUROCK is launched in a six-metre format and will be available from the summer of 2019. With either single or dual metering options, it offers great versatility such as dual cropping or sowing one row in two with independently managed sowing depths.

The AUROCK is available with single and dual metering units. The single metering unit version (AUROCK R) has a 3,500 litre capacity hopper and the double metering unit version (AUROCK RC) has a 5,000 litre capacity split hopper. It is designed for a low horsepower requirement, needing a modest 180hp to operate.

The drill’s ability to work in varying field conditions starts at the front with two rows of opening discs. There is the option of 460mm diameter corrugated discs, for working in prepared soil or soil mixing, or a 430mm diameter embossed disc for cutting residues efficiently and minimising soil ejection.

Seed placement is carried out by the double-disc seeding unit mounted on a parallelogram for optimum delivery accuracy and perfect ground following. Alignment with the opening discs is maintained by a central pivot point between the coulter bar and the chassis. This ensures that seeds drop accurately into the furrow, whether the drill is operating on a slope or around a bend. The opener discs and seeding unit assembly form the triple disc that has underpinned KUHN’s success in drill manufacture for forty years.

Dual metering

Choosing the AUROCK 6000 RC dual metering option adds numerous possibilities, including dual cropping or alternate row drilling with independent management of seeding depth. These options are increasingly relevant for farmers seeking more innovative cropping solutions, whether for pest control or improving soil health.

The modular design of the AUROCK allows the option of an integrated cutter roller with adjustable pressure to enable efficient operation in all cover types. The transport wheels are positioned between the opening disc and the coulter bar. The machine can also be equipped with a whole-width wheel train for seeding within a minimum tillage cropping system. The offset press wheels prevent soil from building up at the front and amplify the versatility beyond direct seeding. They allow the passage of plant residues and reduce pull power requirement. Their large diameter of 900mm reduces rolling resistance.

The AUROCK seed drill is an ISOBUS compatible machine, available with CCI 1200 or CCI 50 terminals (ISOBUS certified by the AEF). For comfort, a joystick is also available as optional equipment. Regardless of the selected control terminal, the operator has a user-friendly and intuitive interface developed specially by KUHN. A simple press of a button at the headland allows successive lifting of the front tools, then the stop of the metering unit(s), ensuring perfect seeding to the edge of the field. This ensures no seed remains on the surface, overcoming a common problem of direct seeding.

upload_2019-5-17_11-41-54.png

The AUROCK is designed to drill into cover crops and operate in minimum tillage and direct drilling situations.

NEW GENERATION PRECISION DRILL

Available in 6 to 12 row versions and capable of drilling crops with row spacings from 37.5 to 80cm, the new MAXIMA 3 range comprises 12 models in a choice of configurations including telescopic, trailed, foldable and telescopic with adjustable spacing.

The new MAXIMA 3 drills use an improved seed selection and ejection system which enables accurate seed placement at working speeds of up to 10km/h. Accuracy is also enhanced by a new seeding unit parallelogram which is reinforced in key areas, including at critical hinges and linkages, for added stability, robustness and longevity.

A new coulter pressure system, capable of producing up to 180kg of downward pressure, also enhances seeding accuracy by ensuring consistent depth control.

The MAXIMA 3 range also boasts an electrically driven seed metering system which allows application rates to be adjusted manually on the move or in accordance with a pre-prescribed seeding map. The electrically operated system also enables GPS or manually controlled row shut-off.

Each seeding unit’s settings (depth, ground pressure, furrow closing, etc.) can be adjusted easily and quickly by hand and without the need for any specialist tools. This not only makes setting the machine up more efficient, but also makes maintenance tasks less time consuming.

A wide choice of optional equipment, including angle-adjustable V-MAX rear closing wheels which provide a furrow closing pressure of up to 45kg, fertiliser hoppers, front, rear and intermediate press wheels, clod cleaners and trash wipers, is also available.

HIGH CAPACITY SPRAYER

KUHN Farm Machinery has recently added four new models to its range of OCEANIS trailed crop sprayers: the OCEANIS 5002, 5602, 6902 and 7702 machines have tank capacities of 5,000, 5,600, 6,900 and 7,700 litres respectively and are available with compact, all-aluminium booms in widths of 24 to 48 metres. The OCEANIS 7702 will be on display at Cereals 2019.

The new sprayers are fully ISOBUS compatible, enabling them to be controlled from a single in-cab terminal such as KUHN’s CCI 1200 console. A separate ISOCLICK control box which places the key sprayer controls (section control, boom height and angle) within fingertip reach can also be used. The new sprayers are also CANBUS compatible and can be operated via KUHN’s VISIOREB or REB3 controllers.

Each new model is available with KUHN’s MULTISPRAY system which uses electric nozzle holders to enable in-cab nozzle selection, automatic nozzle selection to suit the forward working speed and to maximise the accuracy of variable rate applications, plus individual nozzle control to reduce overlapping.

KUHN’s e-SET cleaning system automates the tank rinsing sequence, making the OCEANIS 2 extremely safe and efficient to use, while a new Closed Transfer System (CTS) chemical induction bowl – the EASYFLOW system – further enhances operator safety by enabling chemicals to be added and chemical containers to be cleaned without the risk of the operator coming into contact with any harmful substances.

KUHN’s self-levelling boom system – BOOM ASSIST TOTAL PRO – keeps the spray boom in the optimum position and height irrespective of field and crop conditions, thereby increasing spraying precision and reducing spray drift. This system is equipped with a ‘HYBRID mode’ which uses three sensors to distinguish between crop canopy and ground level, thereby improving spraying accuracy in high density crops such as oilseed rape or potatoes, or where the crop has lodged.

All four new OCEANIS models are fitted with easy-rinse polyester tanks with internal baffles for improved machine stability. Drawbar, axle, parallelogram and boom suspension systems provide additional stability and boom security when spraying and during transportation.
