Cereals for pig feed

I’m normally lazy and just buy bagged cake as I only have a handful of weaners, but with prices rocketing, I was wondering about alternatives instead. What do other people feed in terms of straights and making up their own rations?

I’ve got wheat and barley on farm (and occasionally oats) but know they can’t be fed whole. Can they be fed if rolled or soaked and if so in what sort of ration and quantity? Would extra minerals or straights need to be bought in along side that too?

Curious to hear other people’s thoughs and how they make their rations if not buying in nuts.

TIA

Really, cereals need to go through a hammer mill for pigs - 3-5mm screen perhaps, then you will need some hipro soya or similar plus a mineral balancer.

A proper mixer capable of making an even mix.

i.e. a nutritionist to sort all that out.

Then you will need an inspection by trading standards for your plant, possibly the Veterinary Medicines Directorate too.

Otherwise no problem. :)
