Make breeders/re-homers responsible for consequential problems when they sell/re-home dogs and it doesn't work out. They need to be made responsible for dogs going into good knowledgeable homes, not passing on biters or sheep worriers. The £40,000 fine for sheep worrying in Scotland is a step forward....but fine the person who sold/gave the dog and the owner too. If owners have a dog that is causing problems, they "re-home" it and pass the problem to someone else. It is no longer politically correct to put a healthy dog down. If done humanely, it makes no difference to the dog. Not a nice thought, but sometimes not nice things have to be done. A mate messaged me the other day full of excitement. Some 'stupid man' had given him a malinois. I'm afraid I burst his bubble by telling him that so many had seen how intelligent the dogs were and how much they could be trained to do by watching TV. But when they got the dog, they soon realised they are hyperactive with little bite inhibition and the rescues were full of them. I put it as gently as I could but he has not spoken to me since and his wife is complaining about all the walking she is having to give it to keep it reasonably sane.
