The 3 weeks of government aid are nearly over, gas prices are even higher now than when they last shut down

what happens next ? Looking at the global picture there is going to be massive N shortages fir 2022 crop, that’s going to really hit world wheat stocks

time to buy 2023 futures ? Certainly would not be selling any new crop forward guys !,,

this is all getting a little serious and out of control imo

What happens next? Given that CF Industries made a profit of $317million - (around £250 million) in 2020 and the UK government is in an even tighter spot from so many other sectors needing an emergency bailout than it was when it gifted them 3 weeks production costs, I suspect there will be a hardening of stance and little if any more tax-payers' cash will be offered.

Time to see the colour of CF's actual commitment to the UK , both for the agricultural sector and the rest of the Co2 supply chain who are so reliant on them.

It doesn't always work out like that. In 2014 we had a bad harvest so didn't have the funds to invest in 2015. However, despite using the least fertilizer and sprays per acre I'd ever used, 2015 harvest was a barn buster because the weather was very kind to us..

Just had an email confirming Billingham will remain open until at least end January 2022 but Ince will remain closed.

Billingham produces 625,000 tonnes of AN, Ince 570,000t

Ergo, supplies are going to be tight and expensive

What are prices of N doing in the big grain producing areas? Surely this is the one thing that is going to reduce production in both intensive and marginal areas. If production of grains falls by say 5% what does this do to world supply/demand? Could if actually result in bigger profits for farmers in the next few years, at a cost to developing nations though?

Despite an average growing year for most crops, many growers managed to go above and beyond their predicted max yields, with Lincolnshire grower Tim Lamyman taking the top spots for his wheat yields and his world record breaking winter barley yield.

The highest cereal and oilseed yields achieved at harvest 2021 were announced at this year’s Yield Enhancement Network (YEN) Awards on Wednesday 24th November at the Croptec Show. With award presentations by Tom Bradshaw, Vice President of NFU, 24 farms took home the evening’s top awards for highest yield and highest potential yield achieved for wheat, winter and spring barley, oats, and oilseed. The 2021 winners came from all corners of the UK, as well as from as far afield as Finland and New Zealand.

Familiar names from 2020 made the...
