Currently running an elderly Housham self propelled and looking at a second hand 4000lt chafer so I can utilise a 185hp tractor and move to liquid N.

What are they like? The good, the bad and the ugly please.

TIA

What size boom? Don’t go over 24m without Contour unless your fields are predominantly flat. 3 inch plumbing is best for liquid fert. To avoid scorch remember sub 2 bar pressure so choose the nozzles accordingly. We run ‘white’ hypro’s at 8km/hr to get 1.5bar. Check the steering system is operational because without it, it’s woeful.
Ideally it’ll have new pump seals and ball valve kit installed. Personally I prefer the teejet box to the muller box.
Generally very good sprayers that always have a value.

Personally I would stick with a self-propelled but the chafers are a brilliant sprayer we used to run one, but now moved to a self propelled which works for us
