Chainsaw PPE advice please?

Got a chainsaw coming for Christmas, and think it is high time I got some proper PPE for using it.

I'm not really in the know when it comes to PPE for chainsaws, what class/rating of gear do I need?

I already have a helmet with the ear defenders/visor etc, will be looking for bib and brace type overalls. Possibly boots and gloves also.

Any advice gratefully recieved.

Thank you in advance.

son did a chainsaw course, and I am pretty sure they told him kick back brakes are so good now, there isnot so much need for gloves

I think I will go with gloves and forearm sleeves from now on in all honesty, that and a pair of chaps or bib and brace should be fine. I would get far too hot in a jacket so that is out really.

On my course the instructor said that you didn't need a jacket if you were only working on the ground.
He was emphatic about trousers and boots tho'.

If you’re just starting out with a chainsaw it’s really good to get into the habit of flicking the chainbrake on with your wrist as soon as you’ve finished cutting and always before you move your feet. It’s a lot easier to get into this habit at the beginning rather than trying to adopt it later after you’ve developed a bad habit of not doing it.

No, I have always done this by habit. This is not my first saw.
