Had same decision to make a few years back and I went for a stihl 261CM with 16" bar it can run a longer bar but 16 was optimal

Did a bit of reading on the net and in the end it seemed to be you would be happy with either make in regards to a 261cm or 550xp, but as we have a few other Stihl machines and have found them to be robust and have a number of dealers locally there didn't seem to be any real benefit in switching to another manufacturer.

No frills . Cant beat straight forward cc's imo. Next model up even better.

Will be slightly heavier than the others but I read that as stronger . Need to be fit Using a saw anyway.

I don't have that one mind so cant comment on him but we have a bigger one that is brilliant saw simple and strong and powerful weve found. Start first pull.

Boy has he got some grunt.

Bought the 4300F38C recently. As you say simple, strong and powerful. Very easy to start.

There are plenty of cheap saws, however false economy, plus not politically correct anymore.

Buy a Husky, it will still be starting 2nd pull in 20 years time.

We have one, bought new in 1998, has had a few spark plugs (just for the hell of it) air filter cleaned a few times, and chain sharpened every now and again. Bars about done, but still working fine.

it hasn't done much work if you haven't had a new chain for it

We have an old Stihl 026 really good saw, also a 181 for hedging & little jobs. Wanted a new bigger saw & was put off by a mates stihl experience so went husky. Whilst it starts better than a Stihl & has loads of power it runs really badly & cuts out over & over. Dealer seems unable to fix - when it comes back this time it’ll be traded for a Stihl as it got to the point of taking the old 026 to be able to finish the job as the husky will die! Poor on a 1yr old non intensively used machine in my opinion

Bought my Stihl 039 25 + hrs ago only been serviced once professionally and had countless chains and bars
sticks the abuse I give it . Had a Stihl 181c with the fancy tensioning gizmo for fencing and little jobs was great little saw until b******s pinched it replaced with newer equivalent , not quite the quality but ok for the money
