New and its a swedish made saw ( ive all ready asked )Get on eBay and buy a husky 372xp, proper saw ! None of that autotune stuff on it !
I went from a ms390 to a ms362, more power and a bit lighter it’s noticeable the arm doesn’t ache as much, I opted for an 18” on mine but I have a 25” bar that it will run if you’re sensible with itI’ve run a ms391 with a 20inch bar for years, always a ‘go to’ saw for me. Super reliable, powerful yet not too heavy. Really capable saw. A husky will rev harder, but I’ve got a shed full of stihls ranging from the smallest to animals like the 076 and 880 and I wouldn’t buy another brand personally.
Except they now as rare as rocking horse pooI suppose the ultimate small mount would be a 362xp with a 75cc top end
I posted this on the wtf thread on Nov 6th:I know the Koreans have some serious engineering and manufacturing prowess but how in the world do you build a 20 inch bar chainsaw and then flog it for £106? Explain it to me?

I know you said you don't want the cheap and cheerful ones, but I've been using a Hyundai 20" 62cc one for a couple of years now, just for general farm work, and I can't fault it so far. Starts well, plenty of power, chain that came with it wasn't the best but a new one from newsawchains.co.uk was only a few quid.
Currently available on a special deal at £106+vat, which is a steal IMO, I was happy paying £125+vat.

`ive got 2xx, 3xx and 5 series XP saws and tbh im not convinced on the longevity of the 5s yet, though they are absolutely amazing to useI've got a Husky 288 pulls a 25" bar with ease so something like a 365 special or 372XP should handle a 20" bar quite well.
I would stick to the professional series huskies and you will never need another saw.
2xx series if you don't mind vintage, 3xx series for something a little newer or 5xx if you want a brand new saw.
there are a couple of nice used 372XPs on eBay at the moment
I think there are some 5s that are better than others, I am old school so still running 2xx series and 3xx series saws. Not sure I will ever need a 5xx series as my dad has a 61 practica thats older than me and still going strong.`ive got 2xx, 3xx and 5 series XP saws and tbh im not convinced on the longevity of the 5s yet, though they are absolutely amazing to use
you will never need a new one, but tbh the difference between the 2 series and 5 series is nearly as big as between a cheap saw and a 2 series, the 5s really are awesome to use. quite amazing that new cheapo saws are still miles apart in performance from even a 35 year old husky though, and they definitely wont still be working in 35 years timeI think there are some 5s that are better than others, I am old school so still running 2xx series and 3xx series saws. What model have you bought? Not 1 local dealer had anything decent in stock all either sold out or waiting on stock coming in, as it happens have 1 coming from a dealer in Kent cheaper than getting 1 from our local dealer and free delivery
Tbh however good or bad a cheapo saw might be you should be amazed at how good they are at all when for the price of the bar and chain they can give you the rest of the saw for the price some of them are.you will never need a new one, but tbh the difference between the 2 series and 5 series is nearly as big as between a cheap saw and a 2 series, the 5s really are awesome to use. quite amazing that new cheapo saws are still miles apart in performance from even a 35 year old husky though, and they definitely wont still be working in 35 years time
