We need a good value second hand tracked tractor for next season. Have run a Challenger 765C in the past which was good, but noise levels in the cab were awful. The 765D seems a lot more operator friendly but people say don't touch them as they are unreliable, is this the case or is it just a few niggles that can be sorted out.?

Why the exhaust? When my 35 gives up the ghost it will probably be a C so interested in your comment
The c series were very very noisy in the cab. The exhaust stack is very close to the cab and can crack the glass with its heat. RW Crawford has some special exhaust made that were much quieter yet didn’t sap power. C series is last of the cat engines… great to listen to for 20 mins!

Would the exhaust system be better on the 800 series also. My 855 is noisy in the cab but seems quieter outside. Have a 765 too and the motor is quieter than the hydraulics. Service tech said the new motors are quiet but full of issues. Hard to beat a cat for low rpm torque.

They also do a thicker windscreen, my 765c had one and it was much quieter and didn’t get as hot

A complete stainless steel exhaust shouldn't cost the earth and will outlive the rest of the machine, well worth sorting out.
