Challenger engine recall

Yes, the engines have been a big problem, I heard they were all getting recalled as soon as an alternative had been sorted??

I know of four in Lincolnshire, and two in Yorkshire, that have had major engine failures, although one of them was under observation.
Mainly the 775E model.
One owner did tell me that he'd been told that there is a vibration issue.

Your avatar is a JD bonnet?
Me it isn't its a 936

I apologise shouldn't been so rash just every workshop is full of there brand. Currently run 8r's as discussed in past when running they are awesome machines and best guidance and ease for chucking anyone on. But disheartened

No worries I've got a 8rt and sometimes get nervous of rumours but I love it and everything breaks down. Just some brands get shouted about more. Got a fendt to and heard rumours about them so one will be right!

The local Challenger dealer here (TNS) has at least four new unregistered 700Es in their yard awaiting delivery so they must be doing something right!
One of the big local farms are onto their third JD 8RT in 5 years due to gearbox failures! Their new 8370RT has the most ridiculous exhaust stack Ive ever seen, it looks like JD engineers have took the one from the 8360RT and bolted on an owl nesting box to the side of it:scratchhead:.............by way of contrast the new 8R wheeled versions have a very smart new stack arrangement(y)

I wouldn't worry we have been unlucky I think they are a weak spot but they are great tractors so enjoy it :) dealer is more important but we are at change of JD and Fendt not for reliability but more weight

What like deere 8r and 8rt gearboxes...

Oh wait they still can't build a reliable HD vario and e23 is still a flop
A friend who does a fair bit for local dealer was continually picking up challengers with major engine problems.the time i saw him in sept/oct he had taken in 7 that week and the dealer called him as we spoke to pick up another.ive nothing against them,in fact i do like them but also a jd fan too.i know nothing about the transmissions you mention as i run older stuff 13 and 20 years old.

Hydro have failed in some machines this are now under a dealer program
Now
Hydro's fail in all colours
E23 is a awesome transmission that is great but just need understanding to get the best out of it
Lease deeres offer a transmission of choice for the job it's intended for

I would take e23 over a dated 16 speed power shift

Every thing has the chance it may fail its built by human and no one is prefect
It just the way it handed by your dealer.
But it does stretch resources at times

What you are forgeting is that these machines had done between 5000-6000 hrs each
of hard draft work
The exhaust I have to agree in not the best looking but I can't see how it can be improved with out restricting the operators view

Not disputing any of that as said they do us well Dealer has been very good. But struggled to keep us moving which isn't I don't feel massively there fault just frustrating. Challengers have an engine issue even my Rep admitted it when handing over my quote and that's far better thing to admit then deny it. E23 is good but sadly doesn't suit us. Plus our lads learnt a Fendt quicker then they did E23, a 16 speed just needed to go to 19 and it be fine if you go power shift you want it simpler and grunt which 9L does(y)
