Looks like them Scottish boys have pinched me idea, and formed a new match made up of winners from a group of nominated matches

This is not run by the Scottish ploughing society but affiliated to them

Looks like them in the north can work together better than us southerners.

This has been on the go up in Aberdeenshire for a few years, but has now started up in my area (tayside) this yr.

Runs with the calendar year, 5 points for 1st down to 1 point for 5th in each class

From what I’ve heard, top 5 in each class go forward to a final, where it’s winners take all on the day. There may be a prize for the league winner (most points accumulated).

Great idea

My suggestion was to run 5 or 6 matches over the country

And finish with the final. So similar

The reason for running all matches was use the same judges so standard is the same ( good or bad). Before the critics shout up

Could be easily done in the south but would need a group of committed people to run it

The big incentive would be a large prize pot.

Been saying that this is how qualifying should be done for the National since the Grampian super match started. Take my hat off to them.
Remember all the talk we had on the ‘How did I Do’ logic from golf?

One thing it does in abundance is reward commitment and not just qualifying by default because nobody else turned up.
