Need to change the vari speed drum belt on the 105 , wonder if anyone could help with a straight forward way of doing it. Similar setup to a 106 I expect. Thanks

Is it a simple two pulley drive, or the system with a variator pair and a multi vee belt behind that?

My 85 was like that, not a nice system.
I'm sorry, I'm struggling to remember, did both belts more than once. Think there has to be a tapped hole, certainly never owned the special tool.
From memory it is a large belville spring that maintains the tension from the back.

If it's the drum belt, take the the oil pipe off, take all pressure out of the system and wind the new belt on using a set of stiltons to move the mechanism round. Will need two people and some ply bars. Brute force and igonance! Same system on 5 and 6 series Dominators.

Update , in the end, with the oil pressure end full open I managed to get the belt on, and it runs up to 1500 rpm as it didn’t get up that far with the old worn one. On topic, the small bearings that sit on the slip ring arrangement that the oil pipe fits onto, to pressure the pulleys, these must be a special type are they? Started leaking in the last field, a friend finished the field off.

Glad you sorted it.
The rotary connector will have 2 rs bearings in there, and a tiny oil seal that sits in the bottom and through the centre of which which a probe not much more than 2.5mm diameter passes. The tiny seal will be as dear as a big one, don't worry...

That’s what I need, the seal must have self destructed as I had it to bits and actually had new bearings from a dom 80 on the shelf. Put them in and didn’t think about a seal in the bottom. I guess that seal is from claas?
