Changing John Deere 750A 90 Series Seed Boots....

Please can someone remind me whether it can be done independently i.e. not having to remove disc and gauge wheel etc?

Thanks

@Simon Chiles :)
Yes it can. For 90 and Pro series boots don’t forget to insert the leaf spring that holds the boot to the disc before you replace the boot’s bolt if the disc is still on the hub. On 60 series boots it’s easier to push the leaf spring in after the bolt is in place but due to the shape of the 90 and pro bolts it’s not possible which makes replacing the boot slightly more difficult, but still possible, if the disc is still in place.

While you have the seed boot off check for wear in the hole it pivots around. Mine were oval and new boots were rising up over an inch. Phil need ham make a kit to take up the slop in the holes but the boots will need drilling. Easier to get the boots from him if the kit is needed as the come pre drilled and are a chrome alloy and very hard wearing. My boots have 15000 acres on them and still look near new.

You can also change the bolt the holds the boot on to a 12mm, the original is a 7/16 or even a 3/8s. That will reduce the slop, I use a 4.6 to try and get the bolt to ware, rather that the casting on the drill drag arm.
