Channel 4 hatchet job on farming

If it's livestock and the environment, and involves the NFU, then I wont be trying to find it. There's no point. The NFU are part of the problem not part of the solution. And will remain so until they swallow their pride and start to take on board the information and ideas posted on here. Because, frankly, the people posting on here are more clued up than the NFU paid staff are.

I seem to recall Ch4 have a 7 figure stake invested in the fake steak business Meetless Farm Co have they not? Broadcasting bias agenda!

True, but it doesn't excuse our representation being as feeble as it sounds like it was ? All the more reason to go in with guns blazing surely ?

Christ Almighty! If I ever wonder why we left the UK.!
And I get stick for saying " emigrate, the UK is fudgeed"!

We get the representation we deserve.
Most 'farmers' in the UK are more accurately described as 'landowners'. They don't see the value of their asset declining so where's the problem ?
I have tried on here to chivvy up support for replicating what the French are apparently doing: legislation saying that 50% of food served in Govt institutions has to be French. No-one was interested.

Agriculture is 1.7% of French economy but just 0.6% of ours, more importantly it employs 1.5% of the UK workforce but 7% of the French workforce, 7% is a lot of voters. Our parliament is dominated on both sides of the house by free marketers keen to show the UK open to trade. Chivy all you like it just aint gonna happen.

As I keep trying to get across on here, the environment movement is your ally, because it has the votes and it understands the environmental benefits of supporting home production far more than farmers do. Which is why you will find plenty of Friends of the Earth members at a farmers market but you wont find any NFU members.
If farming wants to continue to go it alone, then agreed it aint going to happen.
