But wouldn’t something that deep be the curtains for any cows that got there?

No stock anywhere near the clamps. Maybe a hazard for people, will need to place some blocks and walk/drive over different gaps to test. Want something that drives over like a cattle grid

Several farms round here have a 12” wide 6” deep drain channel and then sit a railway sleeper in at crossings (or all of it ) can carry a good volume of water and eas6 to keep clear
