Is it faster/cheeper to use umbilical than tankers near too.?
Obviously needs to be seriously dry for tankers compared.
I always thought umbilical would work out cheeper but have recently been told not, good sized fields 15 acres plus 700m max.

We do umbilical cord work by the cube and have been that way for 5 or 6 years , tankers are by the hour, I would say even with big tankers it is a lot cheaper with the umbilical cord ,but we do not have many small fields we work in

If ur in small fields and have multiple places tankers can fill and tankers not havin to wait for meetin on lanes as in at least 2 different directions u can send them the tanker wouldnt be much in it mabe even cheaper as the doda pump and pipe tractor rate would get ye 3 tankers and in small fields the pipe will be rollin out/up half the time whereas ther will always be a tanker spreadin mabe even 2 at times

If you have good customers with good slurry and big fields like @Speedstar you'll probably make more money charging by volume (which of course is the reason for it) because you can shift a lot per day.
I've always thought it an unfair system though. Good farmers with no plastic and other junk in their lagoons/towers, with big fields, all together and no hassle are paying what amounts to a very high hourly rate to shift a set volume. Where as a dump of a farm with too thick slurry and lots of pump blocking plastic, with 5 acre paddocks spread all over the place will pay the same price for that volume even though it may take 3 times longer.

I've always thought flat rate per hour from arriving to leaving is much fairer as the bad jobs have to pay more than the good customers.

We have different rates per cube for different jobs like you have said , not every job is the same price per cube ,

never be cheaper with a tanker , if working in small fields you can put the hose form one field to the next with out stopping with a hose humper

Depending if theres a gate between them or if they're even next to each other.
I got a block here of about 30 acre in 6 bits
@mtx.jag runs the pipe to the end then starts spreading there then pulls back into the next nearest field then spreads that 1
By then just needs to drop a pipe off so pump off for 5 mins then away again
Etc until finished
Real simple and only once reeled out and in🤷‍♂️
