Its that time of year again - thinking about rams for the autumn? Fancy an easy lambing, great carcasses and extra income?
Wee story to get the mind ticking!
Friend bought 3 charmoise shearling tups (2018) and put them in with his 175 scotch greyface ewe hoggs. 150 in lamb with 170 lambs at scanning.
Easiest lambing he has ever had, lost a couple, but lambs up quick and determined to get food.
Hogs took no harm and last lambs went away in dec/january giving him an extra 12k income for very little extra effort.
He bought another 2 last year and has just been back for another 2 this week! One of the originals died so he now has 6.
I have about 10 shearlings for sale in the south of scotland.
