Run our Kuhn setup on a T7.250 and previously on a Tm175, like has been said previously you just adjust your speed to the crop. I prefer going steady than bouncing around breaking things, butterfly's are also more balanced on the back end and you don't end up with triangles in the middle of the field, that makes a big difference when raking.

A Friend of mine is running a set of them behind a slightly turned up tm 150 and grouping everything. He's on hilly ground too so you should have no problems. He kept his old mower there but it's not needed any more unless he has a crop too heavy to group.

That 150 must be more than slightly turned up. I've done plenty of mowing with 155s that were well screwed and 2 mowers was more than enough.

Why would you end up with triangles in the middle of the field mowing with front and backs rather than triples?

Heavy crops & steep hill if you want output 270hp is way under powered, we all so run the conditioners tight & fast to get the grass d/m down faster, all this takes hp
Utter tosh!
240 is plenty to keep in front of harvester in heavy crops that have no need to be conditioned, lighter crops hp is rarely a limiting factor. 270 would be nice but only if it's in a 200 size tractor not big lump the ssize of a house.

We generally have heavy crops here and the tractors I see mowing locally with tripples are a JD 7810 , 7920 , 6210r , case 220 , fendt 920 and nh250 , I never hear of any of them not having enough power.

But if you don’t want / need output all the time then 270hp is plenty.
As said I use a 4220 on 9.5m mowers, slowest I’ve ever had to go due to power reasons is 4mph, that’s still 13-14 acres an hour which is plenty to keep in front of a baler or forage wagon. I have the conditioners as tight as they go, and full speed too.
Not a lot of point me getting a 400hp tractor so I can go twice as fast, all it’d mean is I could go to the pub 2hrs earlier but have no money to spend there!

Ever been tempted by reverse drive mowers

We have had them on a 250hp and yes 14 acres an hour is fine for some but if you want to cut the crop with the sugar levels at the optimum it is not enough, our mowers can cover 30 acres per hour at a nice speed taking out 10 meters on every run using RTK ,we have been there and got the T Shirt and your till you have do not call me thanks

If you don’t need a high horsepower tractor for other jobs why don’t you put triple mowers on the front of a old forager. Plenty of power then

is it not because older foragers are very slow on the road?? neighbour of mine went from old forager to xerion now on its second set of triples. a lot faster on the road but likely better grip in the field

If mowing on flat ground you will need not as much power ?

I've tried triples on my 7810, I'm on only flat ground though, it had plenty of power but then again I don't drive it like I stole it :)
