Hello All
Some of you may remember we tried to get a Grant to Concrete our yard under CS as we're only half a mile from the Thames. Unfortunately elevated, so didn't qualify.
We now need to sort it as must refinance PDQ & it looks blummin awful.
Tractor +Landy + Feed Lorry use.
Area is 11mts x 37 mtrs
Any advice gratefully received. 🙏

I live in the bottom of the former lake Agassi. Known now as the red river valley. It’s deep soil have limited load bearing capability when wet which seems most years. I’ve had good results digging down 18 inches filling with crushed concrete over geotech membrane. Topped off with either finer crushed concrete or crushed limestone. Held up very good over the past number of years. Helps if it can be either sloped to surface drain or have perforated pipe under the concrete to keep the water moving.

I was very disappointed with the crushed concrete i had, seems like a way to ofload dirt and it compacts a lot, ok for a surface finish over good clean stone, that does not compact, allows drainage and worked out no dearer

Just Hardcore mixed with a bit of Stone left over from building works . It probably sounds crazy but we've built a traditional farmyard.
Level what’s there, then layer of screened type 1 (no dust/fines) with a layer of tar planings on the top. All packed down in stages by steel tracks and/or some type of vibrator - roller, plate etc. try and get a run on it if possible.

That’s in better nick than our yard, and we run artics out of it 🤣.
Well, I know but I'm in a very upmarket location & need it to look tidy for the Valuer. I did think of just throwing down Gravel then Concreting later . We are very close to a Quarry & they will sell me a small lorry load for about £400 . I did the front entrance & spent ages Rollering it. Has compacted quite well. Just I don't want to spend twice. Concrete is working out at 10k + labour
