The 18 speed jerkomatic that comes from factory with a free neck brace for the operator.
Fair enough, I must have got lucky😀. Better get myself a neck brace though, as the 18 speed powershift on my current Case 7250 isn’t as smooth. I like it just as much though!

I'm with you, good gearbox. Drove a 6810 with the full power shift, best John deere tractor we ever had in my view. Used to pull a 3m vaderstad rapid with it and was brilliant for that, could just keep going up the gears without a range change restricting you.

Smooth gear changes = slipping clutches. Just saying!
There’s smooth and then there’s randomly try and throw you out the back window for no apparent reasons 🤦🏻‍♂️
However I won’t deny they had their place for a short time but there’s A LOT of stuff in there to go wrong, and when it does it can be catastrophic! I’ve had nightmares about calibrating powersh!ts.
And who would want 18 gears now when you can have completely a stepless transmission?

At the time a cvt was alot of money, and even more frightening and expensive if it when wrong.

I’ve replaced a compleat jd power shifts in the past because they where beyond economical repair when they’ve gone pop and I doubt there was much price difference between that and an ivt.
But everyone’s different, personally I’d only have ivt now.

I’d sooner pay more money and not have a vario. Which is the same as most dealers pricing up trade ins it seems… unless it was a lease type arrangement where I wouldn’t be responsible for it then yes for sure I’d have a vario

Yes, I'd have a vario now too given the choice, in fact I've got one. But the tractor I'm talking about would be 21 years old now, decisions were a bit different 21 years ago.
